About Ciao Chows |

|
|
|
At Ciao Chows it is about Vision of the Whole:
Essence of this Ancient Legacy
which is the Chow Chow. |

|
The Chow Chow - recorded for thousands of years as:
Spitz Type dog, possessing a blue-black tongue, apparently straight hock with stilted movement,
lips just touching - not overhanging. Hunter - gamefowl, wolves, leopards, bears & deer of China.
Harness dog hauling loads, Guarding, Herding, Companion.
As such it was a sound, functional breed. |
Companion Dog Ownership:
Our much loved Ciao Chows live in a home environment
and are part of our human family.
They have the freedom of our property,
play at will (very often, very wildly!) and live a pack life.
They spend regular time in "the great outdoors",
honing their instincts. |

Responsible Breeding:
Our deep gratitude will always go to our superb mentors,
amongst whom, some of the world's most respected
breeders & judges. Without you, we'd not have reached
the level of excellence or the approach we have today!
We choose to remain in close contact with
owners of our chow chow pups throughout the
pups' lives and are pleased to share with them
the happy times and concerns. |
Limited Showing:
We enjoy excellent recognition from both all breeds
and specialist judges when we do show our chow chows,
however, showing is done only occasionally.
Mentored as breeders, we view the breed show ring
merely as an interesting educational/observational point.
It has proved to be the place where the one who is able
to practice discernment and avoid showing's pitfalls:
* gains a deeper and necessary insight into chow chows,
* sees various breeders' goals & some of the best of their lines,
* perceives the extent of one's own, of fellow breeders'
and of various judges' understanding. |
